  Laura Lazzeroni, Ph.D.

Laura Lazzeroni is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Research and Policy at Stanford University. Dr. Lazzeroni has published extensively on statistical methods in genetics research, especially on the mapping of complex genetic diseases by means of linkage disequilibrium. She has served as an ad hoc scientific advisor to NIH in this area and on future plans for the human genome project. In addition, Dr. Lazzeroni has published new statistical methods for the analysis of survey data. Her current projects include collaborative studies on diabetes, HIV and nicotine addiction with, among others, the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Stanford Research Institute. She was the first winner of the Gertrude Cox award, a national, annual award established by the American Statistical Association, and the only person ever to twice win the Goerke award at UCLA for outstanding achievement in public health.
