Alan Go
is a Senior Physician, Research Scientist, and Chair of the Cardiovascular Disease Research Interest Group for the Division of Research at Kaiser Permanente of Northern California. He is also an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Medicine at UCSF. He currently serves on a National Institutes of Health study section for Health Services Research and is a member of the American College of Cardiology Atrial Fibrillation Writing Committee to define national data and quality standards for the management of this common arrhythmia. Dr. Go's current research interests include the epidemiology of atrial fibrillation and optimizing stroke prevention and arrhythmia management in these patients, the role of chronic renal insufficiency in cardiovascular disease, genetic predictors of acute myocardial infarction, race/ethnic differences in cardiovascular disease, and medical management of heart failure and coronary disease in the elderly. Dr. Go’s areas of expertise include development and analysis of large cohorts, clinical epidemiology, use of automated databases, health care effectiveness and outcomes research, and pharmacoepidemiology.
