Coccidioidomyosis is a fungal infection that affects Americans living in the Central Valley of California, Southern Arizona, and parts of Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Texas. An epitope vaccine is currently under development by the Valley Fever Vaccine Project. Despite the imputed clinical benefit of such a vaccine, there are no studies that address the economic impact. We evaluated the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of a potential vaccine against the causative agent, Coccidioides immitis.
