STANFORD, Calif. — Much of the world’s population is living longer, and the consequences of this change will be among the subjects to be covered at the East-West Alliance Conference that will take place on the Stanford University campus April 15-16 in the Clark Center auditorium.

The event, “Longevity across the life span,” is free and open to the public, featuring experts across a broad range of disciplines. Associate faculty Laura Carstensen, PhD, director of the Stanford Center on Longevity, will deliver the plenary speech.

Faculty members Stuart Kim, PhD; Tom Rando, MD, PhD; core faculty Paul Wise, MD, MPH; Ralph Horwitz, MD; and John Shoven, PhD, will moderate panels discussing genetic considerations of longevity, stem cell connections to longevity, social correlates of longevity, longevity implications for the medical workforce and economic correlates of longevity. Philip Pizzo, MD, dean of the School of Medicine, will give opening and closing remarks.

The dean’s office organized the conference. The longevity center is a co-sponsor with the medical school, which is a member of the East-West Alliance, a global network of 10 universities receiving support from the Li Ka Shing Foundation.
