Health care costs to double by 2016

In the News: San Francisco Chronicle on February 23, 2007

CHP/PCOR fellow Laurence Baker provided comments in a piece that discusses the rapidly rising health care costs cited in several reports. The reports suggest that health care costs will nearly double in 2016. Baker attributes the increase in medical costs to the growing demand for new technologies that are often expensive. The improved bargaining power of doctors and hospitals is also cited as a reason for increased costs.
