Peter Chira, MD - Research Associate and Staff Physician in Pediatrics and Rheumatology, Stanford Medical Center
The use of the Internet in healthcare information and management is burgeoning. At this RIP seminar, Dr. Chira will report the results of a survey on computer and Internet use in teens with rheumatic diseases and their willingness to participate in an online chat room support group. He and his colleagues have also pilot-tested the use of an online chat room as a means of increasing disease understanding, patient interaction, and potential effect on improving the transition process and patient quality of life.
