The Stanford Evidence-based Practice Center reviewed data on the comparative effectiveness of PCI and CABG for the treatment of coronary disease. The major questions we addressed were
- the overall effects of these treatments on outcome and
- the extent to which the comparative effectiveness varied according to clinical characteristics.
I will describe the results of our literature review and synthesis in addressing these issues. I will also describe our initiative to pool individual patient level data from randomized trials to better address whether treatment effectiveness varies in clinical subgroups.
