Honors
Among the honors received by CDEHA participants are the following:

In 1999, Mark McClellan received a Career Development Award from the National Institute on Aging.  Also in 1999, he also received the Griliches Award for Best Applied Paper in the Quarterly Journal of Economics/Journal of Political Economics..

Mary Goldstein received two awards.  From 1996-1999, she received a career development award in health services research and development (HSR&D), from the Department of Veterans Affairs.  She has also been awarded, from 2000 through 2002, an advanced career development award in HSR&D from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Publicity
Since the commencement of our Center, Alan Garber, CDEHA Director, was quoted in:  Kolata, G., Eichenwald, K.  “Health business thrives on unproven treatment, leaving science behind.  New York Times, 10/04/99.

Job Opportunities
National Institutes of Health, National Institute on Aging, and Behavioral and Social Research Program (BSR) have one Branch Chief and two Health Scientist Administrator jobs available in a fast-paced extramural research program office. BSR, one of four NIA extramural research programs, supports training and basic social and behavioral research on aging processes and older people in society.
